504 Reminders
If you have students with 504 plans, please remember that accommodations cannot be taken away or changed without having a meeting. If you feel a student no longer needs to receive an accommodation, YOU MUST SCHEDULE A MEETING TO STOP GIVING THE CHILD ANY ACCOMMODATION. All accommodations must be given until they are formally removed from plans.

Please make sure you are indicating 504 accommodations on sub plans. Students must ALWAYS receive these accommodations.

·        Listening to Adults
·        Alerting teacher of transportation changes first thing in the morning
·        Being responsible
·        Walking to their destination
·        Asking for help if needed
·        Not dribbling basketballs or kicking soccer balls
·        Staying with their teacher

Happy Dismissal!

What I've been thinking about...

This is a great 2 minute video about student creativity. While there are many opportunities for students to find the "right" answer to a problem, we limit their exposure to problems that don't have one correct answer. Are we inviting our students to show their thinking and be creative in their work or are we expecting them to "make a house out of a triangle?"

******VISUALS OF BEST PRACTICE*******

In Ms. Bradshaw’s 2nd grade class, students use the inquiry-based strategy of  “The Answer is...”. This has been a great way to flip the process of knowing what her students know. It is getting the students thinking and really realizing that there are multiple ways to arrive at the same destination!  Ms. Bradshaw has been using this for centers, fast finishers, and whole group in math, reading and science / social studies to keep students engaged in their learning.
