Our gracious PTO will be treating everyone to Willy's this Wednesday for lunch!!! Please join us in Room #123 for lunch and fellowship as we end this spectacular year!

Riverwood Graduates Come to HPES
The following students attended High Point and are now graduating from Riverwood International High School. We will give everyone a 5 minute warning before we begin walking the students down the hallways. We encourage you to talk to your students about what it means to be a graduate and get them excited to be in these students' shoes some day! Please ask your students to clap and cheer for them when they come to you!!!

Certified staff - In addition to signing off on the walkthroughs and conferences, you also have to complete the Professional Learning Goal/Plan Reflection.  Sorry that we didn't know about this until now!  Please make sure you have all green checks by Tuesday, May 22nd. A screenshot of what your screen should look like is below. Pitchford and DiBartolo will complete the "End of Year PSC Requirements" section.

All work will be completed prior to next school year. As stated above, please list any furniture needed, fixed, or removed on the list as well. 

Please complete the Summer Information Document using the Google Docs link. The Summer Form will help us get in touch with you over the summer should any questions regarding your current students arise.

Schedule: During this last week of school, I will be at High Point on T 5/22 and Th 5/24

Notes: I will also be at High Point for post planning on W 5/30. Please reach out if you would like to work together to plan or brainstorm ideas for next year!

Highlights: Third graders are working with technology to present their fairy tales. Students with Ms. Jones are using Touchcast Studio and iMovie to turn their writing into videos. They used a miniature greenscreen to give their characters a creative background.

Field Day
Thank you to Ms. Bearden and Ms. Southerland for another amazing field day!!! We also appreciate everyone who assisted on that day and before!!! 

Our 4th graders helped Ms. Bearden with the clean up after the awesome day!! This was a great way to give back to your community!!

ACCESS Scores
We received ACCESS scores Friday and we had 29 students who exited from the ESOL program! Congratulations to the ESOL team and to all the teachers in this building who support our second language learners!!!

Highlights: Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Hayes are using Sway to engage their students in book reviews and projects animal reports. Sway even generates a link that can be share on Seesaw or Google Classroom.

Staff Lunch!
Staff lunch will be provided this Tuesday AND Thursday!!!! 

McDowell chiropractic will be providing a pizza luncheon on Tuesday, May 8th during your lunch times. Please join us in room 123 for lunch and an optional 2 minute personalized stress screening. 

As a thank you for all that you do, Anthony Johnson will be providing pork BBQ for everyone. We will also have chips, potato salad, and beans provided by admin and support staff. It will be in the cafeteria so you can pick up when you bring your students to get their lunch during field day!!! Thanks!!!

Milestones Results
We were excited to get back some Milestones results for our 3rd and 5th grade students who tested on-line. If you would like to see your students results, please see DiBartolo. 

Remember not to share any information with parents yet, as we are still waiting for our paper/pencil results. We are expecting these results soon.

Kindness Challenge
Kindness Challenge week was a huge success!!!! Thank you for all your help!!! Because the Kindness Chain has been so impactful, we are going to keep it going for the remainder of the year!!! Extra strips will be in the front office and students can turn in the strips as well to the basket in the front office. Thank you!!!!

Notes: I've updated my online newsletter, The Coach CafĂ©, to include an 'End of the Year Edition'! Check out the updates and navigate to the Padlet wall of ideas and activities to engage students during the last few weeks of school. https://www.smore.com/0j3th 

Highlights: 4th grade students in Ms. Johnston's class experienced a student-centered personalized learning lesson! The content was displayed on the board and students were encouraged to pick a topic to research. Groups of students then collaborated on how to show their learning using a technology tool for creation including: Google Slides, Seesaw, Green Screen or a Video Recording app. You can try this lesson format too! Just put the learning in the hands of the kids and watch their engagement grow!
