 WELCOME BACK MS. PITCHFORD!!
You have been missed!

***************************************************************************

 THANK YOU!!

Our sincere thanks to everyone on staff for making our Curriculum Night such a great experience for our families!  We have received many compliments on the evening and we know you worked hard to ensure parents received just the right information about our school and your classroom!

Gentle Reminders and Information of Interest....

  • SST meetings will begin on Tuesday, and we have a few simple requirements for each meeting. If you have any questions, please let Brian know.

  1. Please bring classroom and intervention data to every meeting; this includes F&P level, unit assessment data, phonics data, numeracy data, current report card and data collected for interventions.

  2. All teachers who serve the student for the Tier 3 intervention / area of need, are required to attend. If for some reason this is not possible, detailed notes must be emailed to Brian no later than noon the Monday before the meeting.

  3. Many meetings have interpreters. Please read and understand the interpreter guidelines in the RTI folder on OneDrive (in the Madej folder).

  • From the STEM Director-Mathematics, Susan Baker:

McGraw Hill connectED

1. An online course is now available in Edivate to help teachers get started with the McGraw Hill connectED platform. All classroom and instructional support teachers should complete this course by September 1. If there are other teachers in your building who did not attend McGraw Hill training last year or this summer, they should be advised to complete the course. After September 1, Mindy Ramon will send you the names of all the people who have completed so you can follow up.

The deadline for completing the Edivate Training is September 1.

To register for the course:

a. Login to Edivate.

b. Go to ResourcesàLearning Targets-Catalogs-STEM. The course is titled Elementary McGraw Hill Math 101.

c. Once you are registered you will access the course by going to Resources-Learning Targets-Courses

2. Teachers and students should see the appropriate book when they login to connectED. Teachers should also see their 2016-17 math rosters once math class lists are loaded into TAC (kel).

STAR Testing begins on Monday August 29

  • Please prepare your class by reviewing the STAR Testing Protocols before you come to the computer lab. We want this testing to be as low stress as possible. (The testing protocol can be found in the OneDrive folder labeled STAR Testing which is inside the Madej folder in your “Shared with Me” folder.

  • I need all teachers to actively monitor students while they test so that we can get the best results possible. Brian will be in the lab to assist, but it is the teacher’s responsibility to monitor the class. Please do not bring work to the testing session.

  • Since we are beginning testing a week into the window, there is no room for rescheduling classes. Please be aware of your testing times and arrive on time. If you notice a scheduling conflict, contact Brian immediately. THANKS!

**************************************************************************

Computer Lab is closed this week for STAR testing.

The Media Center is officially open on Monday!

Student Ambassadors

It is time to nominate to class ambassadors for your class. Remember, for class ambassadors you want to select one boy and one girl from your class that will be a buddy for new students to your class. The ambassadors will take the new student on a short tour of the school (during a convenient time chosen by you on the new student’s first day) and be their buddy at lunch and recess. When you send the students on their tour, they will get a clip board from my office with a tour checklist/new student information sheet. At the end of the day, the ambassador will drop the checklist/information sheet in my mailbox.

PBISWorld.com Homepage

Have you checked out http://www.pbisworld.com/ ?

This website is helpful to find interventions and data tracking documentation you can use for Tier 1, 2, and 3.

Remember, start taking data in Tier 1 as soon as possible to show progress of student data.

The FOCUS this week is: CAFETERIA…. Remember to bring a few tickets with you to reward PAWS Up Cafeteria Behavior!

Be sure you are asking," Did our class earn a green dot today?"

Remember: Tickets can be given to any student and any time!
