Technology Requests

From now on, anyone requesting the school tech’s assistance (for a mouse pad to fixing a sick computer) must send an email to the link below.
Please also copy Ms. Pomeroy(Pomeroy@fultonschools.org) in case the request is not received. The county is still working out the kinks.

Cafeteria Corner

I hope you and your family had a fun and relaxing summer vacation!
It is my hope that this school year will be full of successful experiences for all students.

Listed are standard operating procedures for our cafeteria:

A.  Offer vs Serve:  Students of any age must make their own choices when purchasing a breakfast or lunch.  This includes the milk flavor. You may print monthly breakfast /lunch menus at www.fcsnutrition.org. Changes are made on occasion due to stock not being available.

B.  We except cash or checks only. If parents want to pay with credit card, www.mypaymentplus.com, they will need their students ID number.

C. In elementary school our students are allowed to charge up to $9.00. No charges will be made after $9.00. The student will always be offered a courtesy meal. I send out a list of students with $9.00 or above owed monies to teachers every afternoon.  PLEASE, check this and let your student know to NOT go through the line and instead see Ms. Uhlar for a courtesy meal. I would greatly appreciate that.

D. Classes going on a field trip or not eating in the cafeteria for any day during the school year must give me 3 weeks’ notice.  This gives me time to order the correct products or reduce my order.

Let’s go Hound Dog’s!

What I've Been Thinking About…

Homework verses no homework......

This has always been an issue at High Point and we worked last year on the premise that we were not taking away homework but it had to be meaningful.
This article makes you think about homework from every point-of-view. It states how important homework can be but also how important it is to give kids time to engage in activities which benefit their social-emotional success. Check it out and see how another school is handling the "homework" debate!

Third Day Count

On Wednesday all homeroom teachers will complete their Third Day Count Sheet. This sheet is EXTREMELY important and helps us have an accurate count of our school numbers. The form will be placed in your mailboxes tomorrow. Please TAPE the form to the outside of your door no later than 8:30 AM Wednesday morning.
We appreciate everyone for following directions and helping us get this done smoothly and efficiently!!

Cultural Corner

DO YOU KNOW?????????
·        In Latin America students are required to wear uniforms for elementary and middle school.

·        Venezuela: Although education is mandatory for children, it is often not enforced. Some poor children do not attend school because they must work to support their families

Transportation Tags

All students should have a tag on their bookbag which signifies how they get home each day. We will be placing sticker labels in each homeroom teacher's box Thursday so that you can place these labels on your students' tags. We are waiting until Thursday since there are still changes to transportation being made.
We really appreciate your help and support with this!!!

DREAM

If you didn't get a chance to fill out our brainstorming charts with ideas of what to do differently at High Point, we have created a Google Form to get your opinions. You do not have to put your name but we would love to know what your "dream" school would look like. Thank you for taking the time to fill out the document!!
