Congratulations!
A huge congratulations goes out to Amy Bradshaw and her husband Nate who are expecting their first child May 2nd!! We are very excited for both of them and can't wait to meet the newest High Point Hound!!!

Student Showcase
Our Student Showcase was a HUGE success!!! Thank you to everyone for all your hard work preparing your students for this event and giving them an opportunity to take ownership of their learning. We had 484 students to participate in the Student Showcase!!! That is 72% of our student population K-5th grade.

GA Pre-K Week
This week we are celebrating GA Pre-K Week!!!! Pre-K has been a part of Georgia for the past 25 years!!
We are so glad to have Pre-K classrooms at High Point so our children will be ready for Kindergarten and life! We appreciate all that Ms. Mayhall, Ms. Lee, Ms. Roberts, Ms. Stovall, Ms. Lay, and Ms. Reeves do with our sweet 4 year olds!!! 

In order to celebrate, our Superintendent Jeff Rose will be joining us this morning to read to our students!!!! We are very excited to have him!!!!

RTI Updates
Progress monitoring using FastBridge has started (see list below for which students will participate). Please refer to the grade-level RTI Spreadsheet for details pertaining to the correct assessment to administer. Please remember that all FastBridge assessments should be taken with headphones. IF you experience any difficulties with progress monitoring, please contact Brian.

FastBridge Progress Monitoring:
ALL T3, EIP, and ORTON STUDENTS MUST PROGRESS MONITOR EACH WEEK
T3 Reading, Language, Math, and Behavior students will use FastBridge
T3 Speech and Writing will continue with paper pencil assessments

Tier 2 students will begin working in small groups the week of October 23rd. Kerstin, Sheri, and Brian will be meeting with grade levels to provide suggestions for groups and interventions, as well as providing information about necessary paperwork. If you have any questions, please contact Brian.

Restocking Paper Towels and Soap
In order to help cut down on waste, Derick and Harry will not be refilling the paper towels or the soap dispensers in the classrooms or bathrooms until they are completely out. If your classroom or one of the student restrooms runs out of soap or paper towels please either post a note on the door or contact the front office so they can replace them for you. Thank you!

Interpretations
If anyone is having additional conferences with parents and needs an interpreter, please reach out to Mariana Mendoza so that she can interpret for you or get someone to interpret. Thank you!!!

iRead Training
The county is offering a 4-hour iRead training for new teachers to Fulton County on October 6th. The training will be held at Ison Springs Elementary from 8:00-12:00. If you are a new teacher and would like to attend, please email Sheri Hess. Thank you!!!!

ESOL Strategies
Find a Person Who Knows
Purpose: To develop oral language through interaction with class members and learn new concepts. 
Activity • Students are given review sheets with as many questions as there are students in the class. • Class members move around the room trying to find someone who knows an answer. • Students can receive only one answer from each person. • Teacher calls time. • The student with the most correct answers is the winner

Monthly Focus: Lunchroom
Remind your students about staying seated, raising their hands for help, and getting the supplies they need BEFORE they sit down.
Students can earn access to the VIP lounge on Fridays with 10 yellow Buddy Bucks!

PBIS Rewards Party! - We will be holding the Popcorn Party this Wednesday in the cafeteria at 2:00-2:30. If your student selected this, please send them to the cafeteria at this time with their ticket. We will send a list to you today.

Money Raised for Hurricane Victims
We are very proud to announce that we were able to raise over $1400 to purchase materials and supplies for schools that were impacted by the recent hurricanes!!!! 
Thank you so much to everyone for your generous donations!! We can't wait to help these schools and will keep you and your students posted on what we order!
