Fall Festival
************************************************** Support for Texas
High Point Elementary staff and students know we can make a difference in our community, country, and world. While news is coming in about the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, we are reminded again about the role we can play to support others in need.
High Point will be partnering with “Adopt a Classroom” program to support the schools impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Beginning today, each grade level will collect funds to purchase materials and supplies for a particular classroom in Texas. Funds will be collected from September 5th to the 15th.
Once you receive funds, please turn in the deposit slip with the money to Colleen Zeller. We will take care of ordering all of the supplies needed and will communicate with each grade level so that you can share the school, teacher's name, and the items we sent to the school in need.
Thank you for your help and modeling the act of generosity and caring!

KSU Coach
I hope you all had a restful weekend! It has been a busy month!
I've enjoyed getting into classrooms to introduce Seesaw. Your students have been catching on quickly. I have worked on making some task cards for use at centers as a guide/reference to remind students of their jobs with Seesaw. If you're interested in having specific task cards for your grade/content, share the details with me and I'll help you create something!
International Dot Day is coming up! Check out this link - http://www.thedotclub.org/dotday/ - to see how you can encourage student choice and creativity. I'd love to help you plan activities to go along with this powerful book....
FOR AN EXAMPLE - Here is an activity -http://www.quivervision.com/coloring-packs/#celebrate-dot-day - you can print and bring to life using an augmented reality app. Email me and I'll show you how it can be done with your kids - then you can see their shock and awe as their 2D designs turn into 3D ones.
Thanks for your help viewing the Solar Eclipse Flipgrid, but we only have 1 video post. Check it out if you haven't - it's a student's review of the eclipse! What could you and your students add? https://flipgrid.com/af460c

Media Center Schedule
Please remember to check the Media Center schedule each week to see when your class is scheduled. If you want to bring your class in for an additional book check-out time, feel free to put yourself on the schedule for a 15 minute slot. You may also send students with golden tickets any time during the school day.

Continuous Learning and Reflection
I know that while continuous learning is vital in this profession, continuous reflection is even more so. This article "Dear Teachers, Go Home" really struck a cord with me. Read it, reflect on it, and we will meet this afternoon to talk about how we can accomplish this together.
