to avoid instructional time and allow staff to participate. Due to our very
important faculty meeting, we will utilize the students/staff from Primetime
and a few other staff members to participate in the test. Those staff

Classroom
Disruption Prevention
Teachers are effective classroom managers, excellent
multi-taskers and professionals who know the value of preventing a disruption.
Disruptions waste valuable time within a classroom, as it may take a long time
moving the classroom back on track after the disruption. Keeping students
focused is one of the best classroom management practices for any classroom age
level. Keeping students on task, providing stimulating seat work, maintaining a
brisk classroom pace and overlapping classroom events will keep the classroom
moving forward and will help to prevent disruption. Remove disrupting items,
including sports equipment or art materials, during classroom instruction.
During reading and math small group instruction continue to provide procedures
to prevent ongoing disruptions while engaged in small group instruction. (“Ask
three before you ask me.”…A red “Help” cup placed on the desk of the student to
notify the teacher that the student needs assistance.)

I am still thinking about homework and what we are asking our students to do. Is it too much? Is it meaningful? would 10 practice problems help the students rather than 50?
Please take a moment to read this quick article and think about what you assign students each night. Maybe even ask your students what they think about their homework?

Pre-Work for Faculty Meeting
Our faculty meeting is extremely important this week. We will be reviewing grade level data, budget items, staffing, and take a look into the upcoming School Quality Review. For time's sake, we are asking each staff member complete some pre-work. It should only take you about 10 minutes to complete. Please be prepared for our meeting to last until 4:00.
In each teacher’s box, we have copied the SQR standards,
along with the descriptors of what the evidence would be to earn an Exemplary
versus a Support score. Your pre-work is:
- · Read each standard
- · Take two post-it notes for each standard
- · Write 1 piece of evidence on each post-it note that would support the standard (evidence is from your classroom) = Total of 2 pieces of evidence for each standard
The directions are also written on the rubric. Bring this
rubric along with your post-it notes (you should have a total of 16 post-its)
to the faculty meeting on Tuesday.
Paraprofessionals: please get with a cooperating teacher to
fill out this rubric. You will then stay with that person once we get into our
vertical teams.
Other support staff: you will not have to complete this rubric
but can be a part of our learning on this day.
