SGC Elections
The School Governance Councils are an integral component of Fulton's Charter System. Members of the SGC are responsible for setting and monitoring the strategic plan of High Point Elementary! We need the voice of staff, parents, and community members in order to ensure we are representing our students, staff, and community in the best way possible!

What is the commitment? All SGC members serve two years and meetings are typically held once a month for about 1-2 hours. There are also various trainings or meetings held throughout the school year. For more information or questions about serving, please see Megan Eigel, Delise May, Lib Roberts, or Lori Simon.

If you are a teacher and interested in serving on our SGC, please fill out the candidate declaration form at www.fultonschools.org/sgc  or https://form.jotform.com/90234913917156

Teachers will have from TODAY until February 20th to declare candidacy. Voting will then occur from March 11th - March 18th.  Click on the link below to declare candidacy.

Feedback
We are asking for everyone's feedback regarding positions, schedule, and budget for 2019-2020. Please take a moment to fill out this survey prior to this Friday if you haven't already. Thanks!!!

Attendance
Below is the attendance data from last month. While the numbers are lower than last month, there were also less days this month. Thank you to all the teachers who encourage your students to come to school each day and call to check up on them when they are absent! Your actions are making a difference!!! Thank you!!!

Strong4Life!
The Strong4Life Challenge Team will be coming back to High Point this Wednesday! They will be arriving first thing in the morning and will be coming on the intercom system to get the students excited about seeing them and promoting the Strong4Life Healthy Habits!

The Challenge Team will join all PE classes Wednesday and will also be in the cafeteria helping serve vegetables and fruit to students! Our goal was to encourage students to DRINK MORE WATER so hopefully they can talk to students about that as well!

The only help they will need from teachers is to hand out the Strong4Life t-shirts to students Wednesday morning and have them wear them that day. Students can then take the shirts home with them at the end of the day Wednesday.

The team might be taking pictures so please make sure you know which students have a publicity release. Thanks!!!

KSU Coach
Schedule: I will be supporting High Point virtually on Tuesday 2/5 and Thursday 2/7

Highlight: Increase your use of Google Apps for Education with these '4 Fun Literacy Activities with Google Docs' (https://www.controlaltachieve.com/2017/01/docs-literacy-activities.html). Explore how using the highlighter tool, special characters tool, word county tool and header/hyperlink tools can help your kids be more critical readers.

Notes: Need some tech advice? Interested in an idea for a lesson? Curious about adding more digital resources to support your teaching? Fill out this Intake Form to address your needs and we can begin the process of connecting online. Just ask any of the teachers I've been working with so far - they'll say how fun and beneficial it has been to connect online.

Check out the survey here - https://goo.gl/forms/CWs92ZU3bukQgnis2

PBIS Corner
Mr. D.’s Dilemma of the Week:

How many times have you tried to talk with a difficult student but to no avail? Does it seem like this same student is receiving “Think Sheets” and “Office Referrals” on a regular basis?

Recently I was looking at different PBIS strategies and came across the “2x10” method. Although I never used this strategy in my own classroom, I wonder if it would help in the classroom. Is there a High Point staff member who would be willing to try it for 10 days and report back with their data? I’d love to hear your results!
