PRINTER PAPER
Staff, this is a reminder that all grade levels should
order paper for use in the grade level printers. Paper should not be taken out
of the copiers to use in printers. It was suggested that each teacher
order at least one ream of paper to be used in their grade level printer.
A box of ten reams costs $30.00. You may order as a group
or individually.
If you choose to order as a grade level, the cost can be
divided evenly among the teachers in each group. Office Max is the vendor to
use. If you have any questions, please ask Marie. Thank you!

LEVELED LIBRARY USAGE
|
Last Year 2013
|
Month
|
This Year 2014
|
|
251 (bags
of books)
|
September
|
106 (bags
of books)
|
We wanted to
share the usage of the Leveled library with you. As you can see, our usage for
the month of September is significantly less than last
year at this time. The county gave us $25,000 to purchase these
books and some school funds were used as well.
These books are
intended for use in your small guided reading groups and independent reading
time for students. We have seen a large amount of
teachers during our walk-throughs using Reading A-Z books which is a
good resource too but requires a great deal of paper to print the books
for each and every student.
Please take a moment to check out the many wonderful books we have in our Leveled Library. The fiction and non-fiction titles (and levels for those titles) can
be found on the T-drive in the folder labeled: Leveled Library

Imagine that you
can’t speak English!
Every ESOL student is
expected to be on Imagine computer program 80 minutes a week.
Imagine helps our ESOL students with phonics, decoding,
vocabulary, questioning, taking turns, proper conversational skills,
etc… Imagine provides strategic first-language support in 15
languages to facilitate and enhance ELL learning. As students become
more proficient in English, this language support gradually fades, preparing
students for English-only environments. ESOL teachers are willing to allow students to use their
computers in the mornings so they can be on it for their morning work. Please help us make sure students are using this wonderful program!
Attention all 3rd, 4th,and 5th grade Teachers:
A friendly reminder that this Thursday, October 16th 2:50-3:15 p.m in the Media Center there will be an introduction to the GA. Milestones assessment. You will get information on content weights, learn about the scoring, and see some sample questions/tasks. This will be the 1st of many sessions that we will have for you on the new Ga Milestones.

****VISUALS OF BEST PRACTICES****
In Ms. Rattray’s TAG classroom, the students are utilizing the
‘Assess Yourself’ poster which provides a tool for them to reflect upon their work and inform the teacher’s instruction. The
posters are written in kid friendly terms and the students simply place a 1-4 on their paper which represents the levels from
novice to apprentice.
It can be used at any point during a lesson or unit and only
takes a minute.
Students and teachers both benefit from this simple assessment tool.
